We think of gifting around the holidays but should have a year-round plan.

Dear [FirstName],

Do you have a year-round appreciation strategy?

Tis the season for holiday music, inflatable figurines, and showing appreciation for those you love and that are meaningful in your life—like your clients! But showing appreciation for your clients shouldn’t only come out with the eggnog. Thoughtful appreciations should be something we think about year-round. Does that sound overwhelming?

As you’re putting together your client gift list—and checking it twice—here are some gift-giving tips and resources to help you plan your year-round strategy.

Golden Hello – Meaningful Connections Made Simple

Check out these gifting ideas to help you create lasting connections, show your appreciation, and foster future growth:

1

Create a gifting strategy: It’s easy to get caught up in the holiday spirit and overspend! By creating a gifting strategy and planning ahead, you can show gratitude without going over budget and send thoughtful gifts that arrive on time.

  • Segmentation: Segment your client list to ensure your top clients receive a gift that meets their expectations—and falls within the regulatory guidelines on gifting.
  • Be Creative: Consider volunteering your time for a client charity. It won’t break your budget and will go a long way to building relationships—and do something good!
  • Designated Time: Handwritten notes and personal delivery aren’t expensive, but they let your clients know you’re thinking of them. Block 30 minutes on your calendar each month to write thank you, congratulations, or empathy notes.

2

Keep your name top of mind: How often should you reach out to clients? Our gifting resource, Golden Hello, recommends 12 touch points and two gifts per year. This is another reason to segment your list into groups. For example, if you work with veterans, send a gift on Veteran’s Day. If you have clients who recently purchased a new home, housewarming gifts are a thoughtful surprise.

3

Make it personal: Your clients want to know you put thought and effort into their gift. The better you know your clients and their likes and dislikes, the more personal your gifts can be. For example, if your clients have a pet considered part of the family, include the pet’s name on the holiday card and send some pet-friendly treats.
